Our last day full day at Green Turtle was a little melancholic. We had so much fun with Mimi and Pappy that we didn't realize the week had flown by. Gillian voted Green Turtle as her favorite island for adventure. Our last day we decided to enjoy the beach, hit the Wrecking Tree for more Conch Fritters (and Wreckers), do some diving, have dinner at Pineapples, and finish off with some Ice Cream.
In the morning I headed to the beach with Gillian and John to enjoy low tide.
Of course John continued to fish.
Gillian got a little more time with Oreo. Hopefully he will still be here next year!
We stayed in the pink house. This is the view from the island back towards the beach.
On the Island, we looked for Bird eggs. The birds weren't really too happy about it though!
John decided to walk on the other island since it was accessible at low tide.
This is the view of the island from our house.
After returning to the house, it was time to head to lunch. We piled all the trash (including Gillian.. ha!) in the back of Mimi and Pappy's cart to head to the dump. The kids enjoy seeing all the pigs, cats, chickens and roosters at the dump. Gillian named several cats this year.
Smells good.
After the garbage run we headed to town and the Wrecking Tree.
There are 12 Conch Fritters in an order. By the time I got the camera, this was all that was left!
Gillian likes the cheese sticks.
The restaurant is built around the famous Wrecking Tree. The settlement used to make most of its money from salvaging boats that wrecked on the reefs.
After lunch, everyone was stuffed and a little slow to get diving.
John, never shy for the camera.
Charles jumped in to check a new reef to make sure it was worthy. He was dead set on spearing another grouper.
Another beautiful reef with tons of life.
We decided to try an underwater family shot (not safe diving practice!)
Gillian requested I stop taking pictures (not politely!)
On the way out we did a little reef trolling through the "slow" zones. John got another Gangsta Trigger.
After a day of diving we decided to make our own souvenirs. Last year I ordered the supplies and never used them. I decided it was time to break them out. Japanese Sumi Ink for some Fish stain shirts! We had a yellowtail, a grouper, and a small grunt to choose from.
First some practice on paper
Gillian started with the Grunt (which John caught off the beach). She ended up doing three of them on her shirt.
Charles went with the Grouper.
John sported the Jyellowtail.
John was ready to sport his shirt at dinner. The rest of us need a little more time to finish them off before a full family photo.
Everyone dressed up a little for our last dinner out at Green Turtle. We decided to hit Pineapples for the sunset. We have had mixed reviews on our previous visits, but decided to give it one more chance.
Gillian is growing up way too fast. She let me take a picture with her.. a small Bahamas miracle!!
This stop sign used to be covered in Boat stickers. They replaced it, so we decided to start the trend again.
The sunset was relaxing, but hard to get a good picture of!
We ended the night at the ice cream store for some Junkanoo and Cookie Monster.
