Pre-trip Prep

As I start to think about another summer vacation in the Abacos, I am reminded how lucky I am to be able to take vacation with my children in such a wonderful spot.  Our first trip to the Abacos was back in 2001 when I joined Pappy (my father) on his first crossing of the gulf stream.   We had such a good time we knew we had to return... and return we did.  We have been fortunate enough to share our time in the islands with family and friends.   I put together a few photos from previous years if you want to take a look (http://brennerabacos.blogspot.com/).

For this year, we had initially planned our two weeks in Green Turtle and Elbow Cay.  After buying a boat to go farther in the Bahamas and getting blessed with the ability to work remote for a few days, we pulled the trigger and decided to add some time at Schooner Bay.

Schooner is a long trip from Jupiter by boat- most of which is in open water.  After spending the weekend rushing to leave a week early, we packed, filled the boat with gas, and had issues with our power steering.  I told Brandy we had a 50/50 shot of leaving early.  Al, the AWESOME mechanic who works on our boat, said he would meet us at the dock prior to 7am.  We had to be packed and ready to go.. even if we didn't go.
